Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Dunes update 1/7/08

Dunes has been on 10 mg for a month. She was originally on 80mg. er recent PCV was 35.4-down from 36.7.

She has been unusually feisty-getting into all kinds of bags, taking food off of counter tops, etc.

A month ago-she ate 3 1/2 lbs of raw pork. She's unbelievable-trying to be smarter than her.

She occasionally jumps on me and can now jump up into the Jeep.

The tech at the vet says she leads her when going for a blood test. She first went through the door, led her to the scale (has gained too much weight), then leads her back into the room and to the corner where they draw the blood. She, then, lifts her head to alow them to take the blood and then she drags them back to me.

Great to get your update Joe. The 1.3 drop isn't too significant, I don't think. Very good to hear that she is getting into things and feeling energetic. That's the best sign of all. Go Dunes!!!

Joe...that is great news.
What was your schedule as you tapered Dunes down on the Prednisone. Daisy started also at 80mg split into two doses, and we are slowly decreasing.

Wow!!! your comment is giving me tons of hope! Glad Dunes is doing so well

Ron,

As I remember it-I think it went from 80 mg to 40 mg (1 twenty mg-twice daily.) Then she went to 20mg once a day for about a month, then 10 mg, once daily for a little more than a month now.

Dunes is still holding at between 31-32, 1-28-08.

I am neurotic and she is peppy, always hungry, and is demanding attention.

She, first, was diagnosed in late June of 07 and is treated by our Vet who gets instructions from MedVet specialist in Columbus, Ohio.

Joe,
Neurotic comes with this doesn't it. Glad to hear Dunes is "peppy" and I am sure she doesn't have to demand attention.
