| Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that I had Duck in for bloodwork this morning and his PCV was 38.9 - up from 34.8 a week ago. I was immensely relieved that his smear showed lots of reticulocytes. I was so worried that he was becoming non-regenerative. My vet feels that his immune system over-reacted to his mild bout of pancreatitis and has just taken some time to settle down. We are going to wait for two weeks and do another CBC. Depending on that reading, we may proceed with a further prednisone reduction. I have also sent a serum sample off to Hemopet for thyroid testing. That may shed some light on these fluctuations as well - who knows? What an intense procedure making sure all the paperwork is done just right so that the sample isn't bounced at the border. Thanks for all your input and support through this. You're all great. deb and Duck |
