Well, we went to see the specialist today and counts are about the same, no better no worse. The vet kept her on the 50m of Pred and now has added Imuran to the mix. I will take her back in a week to check levels again. She still is not showing any other symptom so that one in the win column. Daisy thanks you for all the puppy prayers and so does her mom and dad.

Just wondering what exactly the specialist had to say. Any comments or anything different? Please remind me but is Daisy taking a stomach protectant? Johnny & Tessy

Hi Tina Even though you might like positive changes, NO change is good news as well, at least for a bit longer. Imuran may help as well - did they tell you to wear gloves when handling this drug? Look forward to hearing some good changes for Daisy, moving upwards. Sending more Aussie puppy prayers for Daisy and you guys. Silka

Glad to hear Daisy is holding steady and I think it was a good idea to add a second drug to the mix as often the predisone does not work alone, it may take a few more weeks for all the drugs to kick in. Keeping Daisy in my prayers. Cheryl & Ginger

No, Daisy is not on anything for her stomach. Over the years, in and out of remission, I have never been told to have her on something for her stomach. What should I give her? Is it something over the counter or a prescription? The specialist really didnt say much just to introduce the Imuran and bring her back in a week. And of course you know to check her gums etc. Thanks for the comment about the gloves and Imuran.. I wasnt sure why the vet told me that thanks tina

Oh my yes....you should have Daisy on a stomach protectant! That's one of the first things they should do when putting dogs on these hard steroids. My preferred stomach protector is Prilosec (prescription). It's supposed to be the gold standard for protectors. Other options would be pepcid and sucralfate/carafate. The later would be better for a dog with stomach problems (ulcers). Call the vet and ask about calling in a prescriptoin for you to the local drug store. In case you don't know most of hte drugs used can be picked up at a drugstore for a fraction the cost of what the vet charges! How much does Daisy weigh?

Thnak you so much, I will call my vet in the morning. Daisy is a little fatty-- she is 40lbs. Since her relapse last year I have not been able to get her to drop any of the weight. With being on the Pred it is impossible
