Today Dr. Dodds and my vet conferred and agreed that Daisy's meds that were prescribed at U of P (University of Pennsylvania) were incorrect. Her Pred dose was increased to 7.5mg am and 5mg pm (was 5mg 2x's daily), Atopica increased to 25mg daily (was 10mg daily), Pepcid remained the same, but Thyroid Tab .1mg hald am and half pm and Pet-tinic .9cc 2x's daily. She will have a CBC on Thurs. at which time we hope to see a change for the better. Dr. Dodds feels that she may need a few more small transfusions over the next few months to help her along. Both drs feel confident that we will see some progress in the coming weeks as she is extremely alert, playing, barking, eating. For those of you who have not consulted Dr. Dodds I can't urge you strongly enough to do so. Will keep everyone updated.

After a restless nights sleep on Friday yesterday Daisy appeared exhausted in the morning but ate all her breakfast. After a few hrs sleep she appeared more alert and barking. However this morning was a different story. No barking, didn't really want to eat and was a bit lethargic. Sent my vet and email of what was happening and took her to a 24 hr hospital about 45 mins away. No Univ of Penn this time as I lost faith in them so we went to SJ EVS as they were highly recommended. Thank goodness I had a summary of her condition/treatment that my vet had prepared on Thurs evening as this saved alot of time and money. My vet contacted the attending and advised him to call Dr Dodds for further instructions. Dr Dodds instructed them to transfuse as little as possible to bring her to an acceptable level to buy us some more time under the meds start to kick in. As of 6pm she was still transfusing as they are doing it very slowly. I will keep everyone updated. I can't thank Dr Dodds enough for all that she is doing for my little one. Please say a special prayer for my little one when you pray for all the little ones that are enduring this horrible disease. Will update when I know more.

Evelyn, How is Daisy this morning? Did they finish the transfusion? Patrice

Daisy came home today. She received another transfusion last night. I met with the internist from Red Bank Vet Hosp and he feels that its possible that there is something all the doctors are missing. Her whole body x-ray showed a very small mark to the pelvis that appeared white on the x-ray but could not be felt externally. As it is .4 x .4cm we are going to repeat the x-ray in a few weeks to see if it changes. Her pcv today was 26. All we can do right now and hope and pray that the meds start to work.
