Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Cushings disease

Hi all, Lindy went to CSU on Friday for her check-up.
Because the hair seemed to have thinned out some on her back, they tested her for Cushings Disease. :(
On top of that, Dr. Bayliss is leaving, in June, for private practice in Tennessee. I was so distraught over both of those revelations. My heart was breaking and my husband kept saying, well least Lindy is doing good with her AIHA. Nothing made me feel better.
Is Cushings common in dogs with AIHA once they have been tapered off of Prednisone? So far the only symptom Lindy has is the thinner top coat. She does not have any spots without hair, just that hair down her back isn't as thick as it was last year. She always wants to eat since she was put on pred. so that isn't new. Once she was weaned off, last September, she did seem more satisfied with not eating so much.
Otherwise I don't see any other symptoms that were listed on the Cushings web sites.
Thanks,
Nancy and Lindy

Hi Nancy,
We were worried when Cassie started to lose her undercoat during the time she was on the preds and same as Lindy, her appetite and drinking were voracious to say the least. We read up about Cushings but never had her tested as we hoped that the hair loss was down to the preds and once she came off them everything would go back to normal. She has now been med free for a couple of months and her coat, appetite and drinking are all back to normal so hopefully Lindy will be back to her normal furry self soon.
Our thoughts to you all

Hi Steve and Sue,
Thanks for responding. I get so easily stressed when something happens with Lindy's health problems.
She had been off of pred for almost 7 months, but doesn't have any bald spots, just a thinner top coat on her back. Her undercoat still seems thick. When they shaved her leg and foot for the digital cysts, that(hair) has grown back nicely.
I'm glad Cassie's coat is back to normal as well as her appetite and water consumption. Aren't those milestones wonderful?
