Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Cody.....

Dear everyone, I can't thank you enough for your caring thoughts and sentiments....it really means alot to me, and has helped to know you all understand this better than anyone. I already got Codys ashes back....sounds crazy, but it's good to have him back home....his spirit is here, and I have a beautiful memorial with a huge picture of him, with candles and his ashes, and I pray in front of it on my mantle by the fireplace. I also had bought a life-size stuffed animal that looks like Cody, and put him next to my bed.... I'm a very visual person, and all these things help comfort me. Brigitte, thank you for the heart-warming story about the 6 yr. old boy....I told it to my Bible Study group, and everyone was speechless. Cheryl/Ginger, thanx so much for the beautiful poem...I sobbed thru it, but it too helped me...........Best wishes to all......Tammy/Cody

I know just how you feel...I got Riley's ashes Friday, and went right over there when I got the call that they were ready to be picked up. I just wanted him home as well.

A very kind woman in AZ who makes glass beads is going to make some beautiful beads for me with his ashes encased inside. I will make a bracelet out of them so he will always be near to me. If you are interested I'd be happy to share her name.

Thanx Jennifer........what a neat idea.....I might like to do that too...please give me her info....since I've lost 4 dogs, maybe I'll have my bracelet with some of each of their ashes in it. I'd been training for a new job the past 2 months, and started it last Monday, the day after Cody died...while it was close to impossible to function properly ( I kept making mistakes cause I couldn't think clearly ), it did help divert my pain because I'm so so busy right now. If I didn't have a job to go to, I would have drown in my sadness...are you adopting a dog soon? I hope everything goes smoothly for all of you.....keep us posted..Tammy

She has a website: http://www.juniperhollow.com/CremainsJewelry.html

I contacted her and she is so nice; she patiently answered all my questions and advised me on which colors would look best. You just have to send a tiny bit of the ashes and she will return whatever she doesn't use.

Yes, we are really wanting to adopt again soon. The adoption coordinator at the rescue we want to adopt from is on vacation until Wednesday so we've had to wait. I am hoping to be able to talk with her soon and maybe go visit the dogs we are interested in this weekend!

I heard a really neat story. A friend of a friend of a friend (you know how it goes) had a dog pass away. They had a tattoo done in memory of their beloved pet, and actually had a small amount of the ashes put into the ink. had the tattoo (I think it was the dog's name, or maybe a small portrait) done right over their heart - it was a guy - easier to do. :) That way his dog will always be a part of him. I thought that was a pretty cool thing. Although I am 31, my dad told me if I ever got a tattoo he'd scrub it off me with a wire brush! Ouch! But, it has honestly been something I have been considering in light of Toq falling ill. Just something small, her name, on my shoulder.

Cheers!

The glass beads are a great idea - I also found someone in Australia who does it.
I lost my darling cat Will a month ago, and I love this idea (I also have Will's ashes at home).

Jessi - I had Will's name tattooed on the inside of my ankle, in small writing. A nice tribute to my special boy who I'll never forget.

The tattoo idea is really cool - however I'm such a wuss I could probably never get a tattoo. Needles, yikes!

Samantha, I'm glad you found someone to do the beads, too. I think they are really neat.
