Hi everyone, Well we went twice to visit Coco Monday and everything was looking pretty good.Hct holding at 14 and fever down, we were expecting to bring her home today. Then the vet called about 11:00 a.m. to let us know her hct had dropped to 11 again. We now have an order in to the blood bank so we can do another transfusion and they are doing an ultrasound to see if they can find out what is causing all of this. My vet is all for doing what they can to save her and as far as I am concerned cost is not an issue (that's what side jobs at Mc Donalds are for, right?)She is one of the family and there is no way I'm giving up on her as long as she is willing to fight. So keep the prayers and healing thoughts headed our way....Kelly & Coco

I am sorry to hear Coco is not doing well and do think the transfusion is the way to go a this point. How old is Coco? . Wylie is 12 years old now and I went to get a 2nd opinion at VCA, the only internist in town works there. She said almost all cases of AIHA in senior dogs are caused by cancer of the spleen and recommended an ultrasound, so we had that done, a growth was found and her spleen was removed, luckily the growth was benign. So you may want to do an ultrasound. We all understand the high costs of this disease, but so worth it for our fur babies Praying for Coco Laurie

Kelly, Just wanted to say we are thinking of Coco and praying for a speedy remission. There have been many sick dogs on this forum that have turned around. Best wishes Chris & Alex

Laurie, We don't know exactly how old she is as we found her about four years ago but the vet thinks she is a vizula/lab mix about five years old. She looks like a little red pointer. Hopefully the altrasound they are doing will be as successful as yours was...Kelly & Coco

Kelly Glad to hear you're getting transfusion organised to give Coco time until the vets can establish what's going on...in my thoughts and prayers. Kathleen and Nollaig

Kelly you've got my prayers and thoughts for Coco! In my opinion they should have done an ultrasound in the beginning! Sending some strong Canadian healing vibes for Coco. Johnny & Tessy

Kelly - Are you going to have the gamma globulin infusion at the same time as the transfusion? I understand it really spurs the bone marrow to produce - It's expensive but my baby Winston jumped from 19 to 32 in less than 2 wks. Keeping you and Coco in my thoughts.

Thanks for the update Kelly. I hope you get some answers from the ultrasound. My Millie had diagnostic tests like ultrasound to check for tumour and growths as the cause of the IMHA. Nothing found so we could look for other reasons like vaccinations. Your dedication to Coco is amazing. She is one lucky girl to have you in her corner. Hoping for answers for you both. Thinking of you and Coco. Samantha and Millie.
