Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Cliff is coming home

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support while we have fought this battle. The doctors are out of options and we will pick him up tomorrow. They are giving him a 3rd transfusion today to lift his energy level.

I have to share story as it relates to life and death. My friend Joey had an identical twin named Jerry. Minutes before Joey succumbed to cancer, Jerry told me that he asked him to lie next to him. I always thought how sad that was, and never imagined that I would call upon that memory as anything other than sadness. I can't help but think that if Cliff could articulate that, he would want to be lying next to Curt. And so it will be.

On a personal note, I have cancer as well. Cliff has been the "bestest of the best" in just being there. I walk, he walks. I sit, he sits...he has been my shadow. I love him so much.....

Janice,
My heart goes out to you and your
family as you are going thru all of
this with Cliff, and with what you
are going thru yourself. It's amazing
how much strength the dogs have at times
like this. They seem to know how to give you strength and comfort when you need it the most.
Know in your heart that you are doing everything
you can to give Cliff the best care you possibly can.
My best to you and your family,
Kim and Spencer

Janice,
I am so sorry that things are looking so grim. I know how difficult this is going to be for your family but know in your heart that you gave Cliff the best chances and obviously a very good life up until this terrible diagnosis. I am sorry you are also having health problems and I am glad you had Cliff by your side. I think you may find that you will always feel him by byour side no matter what separates you. If you need to talk please feel free to email me.

Just a quick question have you tried to contact Dr. Dodds about Clifford? If you can try to get all his test results when you pick him up in case you try to contact her.

I too am addicted to Goldens and have not been without one for the last 30 years. I currently have 3 of them and we are all still praying for that miracle.

Janice -- I keep hoping that Cliff's situation will turn around and his body will start to respond. As everyone has said, regardless of what happens, please take comfort knowing you gave Cliff a wonderful life and that you did all that you could to help him fight this. Please take care of yourself. I'll keep you, Cliff, and Curt in my prayers and hope that you can have a little miracle for Cliffie.

I am so very, very sorry. I know how hard this is for you. When I lost my KayCee to cancer 7 weeks ago come Sunday I was so sad, yet at the same relieved to know she would never be in pain again. and sh would be with her much loved littermate brother, Hunter, that we lot to AIHA back on Oc.t 16, 2003.

I hope and pray for you that your dog Cliff can make it. I know what you are going through. I am very sad as I had to put my little dog scruffy down as he had no response at all to the medications he was on. His PVC only ever got to 17 after a trnsfusion and he had no regeneration at all of any red blood cells despite white cells being fine.
