Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Chris in PA

Be sure which generic your vet is referring to. There are two. Generic name: Neoral absorbs the same as Atopica/Cyclosporine according to all of the research. SandImmune, the other does not absorb well in dogs. You just need ot be sure you get the correct one. My Costco uses Neoral, which is the usable one. I was getting caps of the 25mg for 64.52.

Chris,

I got my Atopica, 100 mg/15 tab pack for $75 from the valuevet.com website. Once I found this my vet agreed to match the price, which saved me the $6 shipping fee.

Hope this helps.

Novartis continues to occasionally give one time rebates (through your vet) that are pretty significant. Check this page and ask your vet:

Thanks for your help. I just got off the phone with the vet and he is starting the 100 Mg Atopica 2 in morning and 1 in evening with food. My regular vet quoted me a price of $106/box of 15 tabs. The IM doc quoted $84/box plus a one time prescription charge but it would come to $404 for a one month supply.
I just checked out the valuevet site and yes it was significantly cheaper at $75/Box. I'll also check out the rebates. The vet said his hemocrit is 42 - which it has never been that high so that is good.
His liver values have improved somewhat (perhaps due to the reduced 10mg of pred a day and Dr. Dodds liver cleansing diet?). His bilirubins have increased further so they are taking him off the Aziothorprine and starting the Atopica. Its really strange as we have been battling this for over 4 months now and he just started to have more energy this past 4 or 5 days. I am actually optimistic but also worried about starting a new medicine. I am hoping that Atopica is tolerated well - I am going out of town and my husband will be nurse for most of next week.
This will be nerve wracking for me.
