Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Can you cut the cyclo in half?

Another question. All I have is 100mg cyclo for oliver. As I won't be seeing the vet until Tuesday what with the holiday, etc. I was thinking about splitting the dose am and pm. Is it possible to cut the 100mg in half so I can give equal dosage morning and night? Has anyone done this before?

Mardi,
Please don't try this if this an Atopica capsule. This is an especially developed delivery system for this drug and it would change the way it is absorbed into the gastrointesinal system.

I gave Chance his whole dose in the morning, as per Dr. Dodds, for 8 weeks. I am not sure if you were advised to split the dose by your vet or not, but there is no reason to do so if all you have are the 100mg caps.

Ginger's cyclosporine tablets are gel caps and I don't think they could be cut in half without some leaking out. Maybe you could just give 2 at once and then give the other one about 12 hours later and alternate this pattern each day until you can get to the vet. They do make 25mg and I am not sure about 50mg but maybe when you talk to your vet you get an rx for one of the smaller mgs and do the 150mgs 2x day.

How is Oliver doing today?

Thank you. He's pretty lethargic and tired. Didn't really want to eat, but did. I think our days of having no clinical side effects are over :( Maybe he's just tired. I don't know. He's getting his dose at night per the vet. thanks again. They are, indeed, get caps.

Lethargic and tired this morning, same old dog by mid morning afternoon and right now as he is finally resting next to me on the floor. I'm learning folks, I'm learning! Thanks.
