This is about my 13 year old lab Jake, since many of you have so much knowledge of the reactions these meds can cause I thought I would ask since I could not find any thing on the net but this makes me wonder. 3 weeks ago Jake had his senior check up and his BP was 188, a high normal. 2 weeks ago he was very lethargic, not himself and I took him in, his BP was 266. I had given him his interceptor 1 or 2 days prior. My vet said no, the interceptor didnt do this. We ran him thru every test and nothing is coming up as the cause. He was put in BP meds and I took him in Wed and still his BP is 266, so they increased the dose and added another bp med and now he leaking urine like a sieve. Just never ends! the good news is Wylie is going on 2 years in 2 weeks! and she is a tough old gal at 12+ years old. Laurie

Hi Laurie, I am sorry to hear about Jake's BP. Did the test include kidney function?

I have no advise for you cause I'm unfamiliar with these drugs but I'm sending some positive vibes for Jake....and Wylie! Is Jake getting better today?
Johnny
Teresa, they checked his urine and said it was okay but did send it out for a protein check. Jake seems to be doing good today so I think the new drugs are working. Johnnie, heartworm meds are very scary to me, we have it bad here, but I also think its because so many people leave their dogs out all the time and dont use the preventative. And The heartgard plus Wylie was previously on is what caused her relapse. At their age, I am so close to not giving it. Laurie

Hi Laurie Im sorry I dont have any clues either, but I know what we do to ourselves by looking for every little thing that might have caused something. I blame myself for a Revolution treatment that I gave to Riley a few days before he became ill. Wishing you all the best with Jake, and hope is is back to his normal self soon. Silka

Hi Laurie - I'm like Theresa, wondering about the kidneys - could easily cause BP issues and you're having the urine leak too? Too Coincidental..... Good luck with that and let us know what they find out when the tests come back.

Hi Laurie, Its sounds like the vet is on top of things and if the kidneys are responsible the protein check should provide some info. That is the first thing that came to mind when you also mentioned the urine leaking. Best wishes to you and Sweet Jake! My AIHA Boy's name was Jacob but we called him Jake, Jake-Jake! Please keep us posted as time permits! Teresa
