Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Blood Clot advice?

Hello everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with blood clots and getting rid of them?
Tess has very quickly developed a large (1.5 inch) clot in her inferior vena cava. They are monitoring its status via ultrasound each week and it has not grown (but is not shrinking either). Blood is still flowing around it at this time so we are keeping our fingers crossed.
She is on .85ml of Aspirin twice a day to thin her blood a little. Her platelets are at 1200!!!
They have told us that there is not much they can do, surgery is extremely risky to remove.
Any thoughts/experience would be much appreciated.

Claudine,

I know this is supposed to be one of the serious risks of this disease. I did not experience this with Barkley (that I know of) but perhaps Dr. Dodds, a veterinary hemotologist in Santa Monica who will do telephone/email consults could help. You can find her contact info on the Hemopet website.

Cheryl (and always Barkley)

Hi Cheryl, I reached out to Dr.Dodds, thanks for the advice!
