It has been awful quiet on this site lately! I hope that means that the pups are doing better and the moms and dads are breathing a collective sigh of relief! Take care everyone. Don't forget that all of us are thinking about you and and your loved ones struggles and successes. We are there for you.

Hi Mardi, I love the way you have a knack of turning up at the right time, providing support! :) As far as Riley and I are concerned, we are hanging in there - hope everyone else is doing ok.

I, too, hope all pups are doing well. My standard poodle, Tootsie, is finally behaving like herself prior to her diagnosis on May 30. It has been five months. It really does take a long time to recover. I met a man with a dog that had AIHA five years ago and it was treated for a year and has been fine ever since. This is encouraging. We just have to be patient and have hope. Tootsie is getting her blood test next week. I'll let you know how she does then.

I was thinking the same...hopefully no news is good news. On our end, Tiggs is doing great, but our other pup Honey had double knee surgeries two weeks ago, and one of the surgery legs had a very rare failure, so back to surgery we went- since its a rare complication, we don't know if the new, unconventional repair will hold. In some ways IMHA was a blessing, because I now feel like I have the skills to handle these types of crises...which, unfortunately doesn't make them any easier. I guess if there is a God, he or she gives us the pups with special needs because we are strong enough to handle it...right? Interestingly, I'm on another support forum for ortho issues, but find this site so much more comforting. You guys are all amazing. melissa, tiggs and family

Mardi, how come I cant post on here. Was I banned? I've tried several times to update about my dog Rosie but it doesnt show in the general thread.. Any ideas? Rosie's pcv went from 38 to 42 this week. waiting to see how cbc is on Monday..

Pam, sometimes there are techy gremlins, I don't think you were banned...Joanne has had to help me before in the past, sometimes your IP address gets banned if you post a link, or if the site thinks you have posted spam (of course, you haven't, but the site picks weird things to block). joanne can unblock you if you email her your IP address. hope that helps! melissa and tiggs

Pam, If you are able to post to a thread that is already here, as you just did, you are not blocked. Perhaps when you start a new thread you are forgetting to put in your name and location. If you are still not able to post send me an email at dicksonjoanne@hotmail.com and I will see what I can do to help you. Also when you email me send me an exact copy of the what you are trying to post and I will see if there is something in that post that is blocking you. And finally only if you see the words that say "we regret you are not allowed to post to this BBS", are you blocked. If you do not see those words and see the box to post in you are not blocked. Then it is something you have forgetton to include such as your name and location or it is a problem with your internet service provider.

Pam, Rosie's PCV sounds great. Fantastic. You must be soooo happy. Keep up the good work. I have no idea about not being able to post. I think Joanne and Melissa helped you on that one. Take care of yourself. Yea, Rosie!!!!!!

I was was wondering the same thing, but I think no news is good news. Next week Wylie marks a year since her relapse, we think it was triggered by Heartagard Plus and since then she has been on interceptor. For a 12 year old gal, she is doing great, her PVC has been in the mid 40s and she has been med free since March. Laurie

Hi, I agree it has been quiet. Thanks for reminding us we need to post both good and bad news.I personally have learnt alot from this site and whether it's good or bad news have gained from the input here.I've lost one dear dog to this awful illness and thought I'd done it all right in getting Joe but that wasn't so. After 13 months I feel drained so I am sure that others are as well however we need to stick together and give support to each other. Love and best wishes to all, Corrie and Joey.

Kola is doing great 10 months post-diagnosis. Keeping fingers crossed for him, checking his gums daily, and hoping for good recovery for everyone's pups.

hoping too that no news is good news for everyone. on our end, Casper has had a great year so far. he's been able to go on lots of adventures. these past few weeks he is easily tired and one of his hind legs seems to bother him as he sometimes does not want to put any weight on it. and there is the usual throwing up/runs every so often but other than that he is fine. so am praying that he will continue to do good.

Leslie, I am so glad to hear that Casper is continuing to do well and have lots of adventures. For anyone who is interested in learning more about Casper he is the May 2008 Success Story at the Meisha's Hope AIHA/IMHA Web site. This URL will take you the Casper's Success Story: http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/archives20.htm After you get to this page, scroll down to the May story. Big hugs to dear Casper from canine Maggie and me.

Hopefully the lull is that alot of dogs are feeling better and we are out and about with them. I check this board at least several times a week to see how everyone is doing. I haven't posted anything as Alex has been getting stronger and stronger. I am so thankful to have all of the help from everyone on this site when times were rough as I know we wouldn't have made this far. You are all a great bunch of people! Chris & Alex

Does anyone know what the overall longterm recovery statistics are for AIHA dogs after first crisis? (How many go on to have another episode? How many stay healthy?)
