Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Another Madison Update

Hello All,

Madison's monthly blood test was done last week and all good - she has PVC 42 for the last 3 months with 3 med reductions. We have reduced meds again and the vet thinks she will be off them all in the next few months.

The vet also said that her blood test showed that her body does not want to Pred anymore it is starting to reject it. The vet said that was really good??? I havent heard anyone talk about this before so if anyone knows what it means would love to hear about it.

Wishing you all well

Don't know much about the rejection, but bravo Samantha and Madison!

Great job Madison. Just keep the reductions slow and steady. Victory is within sight!

I've never heard of the body rejecting prednisone after being on it for so long. What dosage is Madison on now? I also don't know how a blood test would show this. Maybe he misspoke?

Hope all the best for you and Madison.

Hugs from Tessy and I.

Hi Johnny,

Madison is now down to 5mg every 2nd day. The vet said her blood text showed fatty deposits in her blood whioh she said means something to do with not needing it anymore???

Anyway thanks for the well wishes..

Way to go! What a great feeling you must have to be on the home stretch! I haven't heard about pred rejection but have heard that prolonged use can shut the immune system down totally!
