| My turn, since Wylies relapse in November down to 27, she is back up to 46 and holding! Since reducing her pred her ALT has come down from 975 to 550, yeah on that too! Looking back I do think she was on pred too low and not long enough and the heartworm compounded the relapse and I knew better but I was scared because of her age. She was diagnsoed on 4/9 and put on 30 mg a day, her PCV went up to 42, but then a growth was discovered on her spleen that had to be removed so we started a fast reduction of the pred over 2 weeks (so she was only on the 30 mg 2 weeks). That was taken out on 5/9 we had her on 10 mg pred a day for 2 weeks then dosed down after that, with her last pred pill 6/29. Her PCV was never over 40 again and we attributed that to her age, 11 years and no spleen. Even though she is on a higher dose/longer than before, I am still worried is this enough? With her relapse, she was on 20 mg a day for 45 days, then 20 mg every other day for 30 days and now 10 mg every other day for 30 days, and then hopefully 5 mg every other day for 30 days after that. The good news is she was reduced to the 10 mg 2 weeks ago and she is still at 46 so if she drops below this I will ask about upping it again and maybe this is her level of where she needs to stay at, only time will tell Laurie Laurie |
