| Hi guys, My 12 yr 9 month old Golden Retriever, Angelo, went to the Vet for a re-check this past week. We started him on the NSAID Metacam approximately 8 weeks ago for Arthritis pain. It worked immediately for him, but we are still being very cautious of any side effects that are possible. His bloodwork came back mostly within the normal range but have dropped a bit so I will continue to keep a close eye on him. November 29th: His PCV was 44.8, it is now 38.6 His RBC was 7.27, it is now 6.44 His Platelets came back at 209,000 which is very good for him as they are usually alot lower than that. There were 2 other things MCV# and MCHC# which were out of the normal range only by a fraction of a point, but it still concerns me a bit. Angelo is still very energetic, playing daily with his "brother" Archie and even went for a short walk yesterday and today. So unless I see a change in his energy or see any blood spots we are going to keep doing what we are doing. Our plan is to keep him on the full strength through the winter and as soon as it gets milder out we will try to see how he does at 1/2 strength. I send my good thoughts and prayers out to everyone and their dogs that continue to fight. And if you could throw some our way I would appreciate it :-) Here is a photo of my Angelo from today: http://www.photosbyjeanne.com/gallery/2584058/5/243076351/Medium Jeanne in New Jersey Goldens, Angelo & Archie |
