Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - An AIHA/IMHA Fund Raiser ALL can participate in

I know many of you on here want to do something to help in the fight against AIHA/IMHA but do not have a lot of time or money to do so. Believe me I have been there. My husband David, my best friend Nola and I have had two garage sales to support the Meisha’s Hope AIHA/IMHA #338 at MAF

We will be having a third Meisha’s Hope garage sale on Thursday and Friday May 7 & 8, 2009 and I am inviting you all to be a part of this sale. This is how it will work. Find one or more items that you would like to donate to the sale and mail or UPS me this item/items before April 15, 2009 along with a photo of your AIHA/IMHA dog (who is either surviving or not). This must be printed photo. We cannot accept email photos. We will put your item for sale and all proceeds from the item will be donated to the Meisha’s Hope AIHA/IMHA Fund #338 at MAF. You dog’s photo will go up on special bulletin board called “The Faces of Canine AIHA/IMHA”. If we can get some of our friends from the UK , Australia or other countries to donate items we will call the board “The Faces of Canine AIHA/IMHA World Wide.”

In addition to those of us who have worked the sale before we will be having Christy from MAF here to help us. She currently does the vast majority of the Meisha’s Hope work at MAF. Christy has a brother who lives in MN and she will be coming to visit him so decided to come and help us with our sale.

We had a Meisha’s Hope bulletin board at one of our sales and people spent a lot of time viewing it since all people love to look at dogs. This will be so much more special. It will help people to realize any dog can get AIHA/IMHA.

The following URL will take you to a site that contains a few photos from one of the other garage sales we held. The photos are limited since we were too busy most of the time to take photos and only thought of photos when things were slow.

We will take photos of this sale, hopefully, and post them and a photo of the bulletin board online after the sale.

If you want to send an item/items for the garage sale and a photo of your AIHA/IMHA dog for the “Faces of Canine AIHA/IMHA” bulletin board please send me an email at
dicksonjoanne@hotmail.com
and put MH/MAF Sale in the subject line and I will send you more details.

Hopefully we can get some media attention on the day of the sale. I hope many of you will choose to participate in this event.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU!!! to all of those of you who have contacted me at “hotmail” to tell me that you will be sending an item/items for the “Faces of Canine AIHA/IMHA” garage sale. It was wonderful to hear from all of you. I was happily surprised to hear from some who have not posted on here for a long time. Apparently many of you still read the posts but no longer post yourself. I look forward to receiving your photos and items soon. I know it may seem like a long time until the sale, but at least in my life, days, weeks and even months go by in the blink of an eye.

I am “bumping up” the post about the garage sale so those who are checking in here for the first time this week/month over the weekend will be able to see it.

I hope to hear from many more of you in the coming days since I really want the Bulletin Board to be covered with the faces of lovely AIHA/IMHA dogs. I have plans to contact many other AIHA/IMHA owner/caregivers, who do not post on this forum next week to let them know about this great opportunity to help in the fight against AIHA/IMHA as well as have their dogs photo displayed on the “Faces of Canine AIHA/IMHA” board. The board has just had a fresh coat of paint and hopefully the lettering will get done this weekend. I have plans to use this board and/or photos of it for many other things.

When people hear of AIHA/IMHA or any other disease, for that matter, it can be easy to dismiss it but to see the faces of those who have been affected by such a disease, makes it much more real.

I hope to hear from many more of you in the coming days and look forward to receiving the photos and items from those of you who have already contacted me. Canine Maddie and I send your canine kids big hugs ( ) ( )!!

I wanted to bump this up again. I know that the majority of people on here are probably struggling to keep up with the Vet bills but it came to me while packing up a whole load of stuff for the sale that perhaps you can tell your friends and relatives that while you really appreciate the gifts for Christmas and Birthdays etc. You would really like for a donation to Meisha's Hope to be made instead. I know a few of us have done that already and it is a gift that I really do appreciate and so much easier than shopping.
