About dinner time tonight Aiyana could no longer stand...we have helped her outside a few times, she just does not look good. Could the Azathioprine make her feel weaker? She seemed to perk up yesterday, and was ok this morning. She will still take treats (of course lol), but won't get up for them anymore. I am really praying it's just a bad night and she will perk up again tomorrow...but I also am filled with a lot of fear. Trying to stay positive here... blessings, Julie and Aiyana

Julie, Oh dear. This certainly does not seem to be a good sign. It brings back a strong memory of one summer night in 2007 when I came home from work around midnight. I put Chance on a leash and started to walk him across our little dead end street to the fire hydrant where he likes to pee. He laid down in the street and would not get up. I sat on the curb and just cried for a long time trying to decide what to do. I finally had to wake Mark up to come out and carry him back in the house. The next day I called my pet sitter and asked her if she would come over to talk about him with me. She has been with us since Chance was a little puppy and she worked at a vet clinic. When she came over we were sitting on the deck. Chance somehow managed to run down the deck stairs to bark at a squirrel. She told me not to give up him yet, that she sees much sicker dogs everyday. So I didn't. That was the very worst day and later that day I called Dr. Dodds, at the insistence of a good friend. She spent a lot of time on the phone with me giving me treatment advice. I never looked back after that. Within a little over a month he began to finally make blood again. By the end of 2007 he had recovered almost completely and now a year later he looks great. I can't promise you that this is just the low point before recovery starts. But I can give you hope that in many cases it does happen. If our willpower alone could make it happen, all the dogs would survive. If you haven't contacted Dr. Dodds, please think about it tonight. Her email is hemopet @ hotmail .com (remove the spaces). I will be thinking about Aiyana tonight. my best patrice

Dear Julie -- I read your post that Aiyana wasn't doing well, and then I read Patrice's. I hope you can contact Dr. Dodds and run through Aiyana's medications and current condition and get some strong guidance on next steps. I know you care so much about your sweet girl and want to do what's best for her. I am hoping this is just a bad night. Good luck and take care. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Julie, my thoughts are with you. As everyone has said, Dr. Dodds is a wonderful woman. I emailed her on Sunday night and had a reply yesterday. I was amazed. I couldn't believe she would take the time to email someone she had never met, but she did. Take care, Karen H.

Well, our sweet girl made it through the night, but not without some difficulties. About 2 am she must have tried to get up to go by the patio door, she fell into the door. I could not get her back up, so I let her lay there... a half hour later she again tried to get up to either come back into the family room with us, or to get water and fell again into the water bowl. We can not get her up to go outside this morning. I was able to get her first 3 pills in her, she ate a bit of baby food, but is now refusing her prednisone. It is very frightening, this is just how it ended with Wolfie... My son is working this morning, we are hoping she still perks up some, and will take her to the Vet when he comes home. Thank you all for the positive vibes, thoughts and prayers. I don't want to lose her, but I will not allow her to suffer either - she deserves so much more. blessings, Julie and Aiyana P.S. I will email Dr. Dodds this morning, I really was hoping the Aza would turn her around quickly.

Oh Julie, We are so worried for Aiyana, we are hoping and praying for the best. Your ability to stay positive is what that sweet girl needs, and is an inspiration. I believe she will let you know how to proceed. Love her every minute today, and we are hoping for the best for sweet Aiyana. melissa and tiggs

I feel for you so much. . .it must be so hard to see her like this. I really hope they can add something or maybe a transfusion or something to help her out this afternoon. It sounds like she's still trying to get around. I'd give her all the baby food she wants too--keep her strength up as much as possible. Willow loves taking her medication in whipped cream cheese, you could try that.

So sorry about all of this. You are right though, get her to the vet asap. HUGS your way....
