Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Advice on swollen lymph Nodes

Hello,
my girl was diagnosed with AIHA most recently but was treated upon suspiscion since Feb 4th.
She is receiving prednisone and ciclosporin - when she was acute she was in the clinic and had a transfusion. Ciclosporing has been started 1 week ago as the prednisone was simply not working she was deteriorating ongoingly,

She is not well - at today's check up we noticed she had a bloated stomach - which is not my major worry - but she also had swollen lymph nodes. I remember seeing somewhere that this is very very bad news - but I can not remember where or why.

If someone knows please let me know asap - my girl is suffering with breathing difficulties.

best regards,
Katherine

Hi Katherine,

I'm so sorry to hear of your baby's struggles, I do not know anything about swollen lymph nodes, but my guess would possibly be her body isn't filtering the toxins properly, which would also explain the fluid. hopefully they can put her on some sort of med to help get rid of the fluid. Is she on Heparin or Aspirin? that would also help at least prevent clotting. Also, the body could be fighting an infection.

I want to extend our thoughts to you and your sweet girl, and I'm sure others here will have more/better advice, especially those who have experience with Cyclosporin, since I do not.

Please keep us posted, we'll be thinking of you and praying for improvement and better health for your girl.
