Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Abby is Home

After 5 nights at the vet and 6 at the hospital, Abby is finally home. She was quite nervous and shaking at first and does not want any of the other dogs around her right now. She is on 5 different meds, as we are also treating pancreatitis in addition to the AIHA, the main one being cyclosporine. She was quite the favourite at the hospital; the techs told me she was so easy to handle and gentle, as if she knew they were helping her. The additional complication of the pancreatitis necessitated multiple x-rays and ultrasounds. I have an appointment next week with a wonderful homeopathic vet who has helped me tremendously with two of my other dogs when traditional medicine could not. I spoke with him last night and he is anxious to meet Abby. I will pass along any interesting information he may have. The specialist was supportive of this approach as long as I continue the meds, which is fine with me. Thank you to everyone for your messages of support and encouragement. It is reassuring to hear from people who have gone through the same thing. I will post her progress.

Hi Janet.
Good to hear your Abby is home, I know exactly how you must be feeling, it's fantastic to have them home again isn't it.
Trixie is a Collie X (some Retriever) by the way.
Keep us posted.
