Yesterday was the anniversary of Ernies AIHA diagnosis. I still come to these boards at least once a week simply because it feels like home. I celebrate with those who are doing well, and it breaks my heart every time I read about another loss. Ernie is doing great, med free for over 6 months now and no sign of any relapse. To see him now no one would ever know he'd been so ill. Every time I see him running round after his ball I know just how lucky I am to still have him with me. It's hard to come here and read about so many who don't make it, but among all the sadness and loss there is still HOPE. Some do make it, and go on to live healthy happy lives. My thought and prayers are with all those still fighting the battle. Sue (and little Ern)

I was sitting here thinking about Little Ern and thought I would check in to see how things are going. Great to hear he is doing well. One whole year on. It seems like yesterday doesn't it. Keep up the good work Ern. Time to get the coat out soon. Best wishes, Jackie and Jasper

Hi, It's comforting to know that there are dogs that are surviving the diagnosis of IMHA. Hooch, my lab-pointer, has just been diagnosed. We're devastated. His presentation was rapid (less than 24 hours). It's hard to imagine how this can happen. The cause has not been determined. He has responded to therapy quickly (corticosteroids, Imuran, Doxycycline, ASA). Neoplastic processes have been ruled out. It's scary, but at least Hooch seems to be feeling much better. I only wish I could isolate the triggering factor. I hope all of you experiencing the same situation remain hopeful and optimistic. Hooch's brother, Turner, misses him so much. Turner and Hooch have done absolutely everything together since birth. They are lost without each other. My best to everyone. Doreen

Sue - Great news, I'm glad to hear that Ernie is winning the battle. So many of us have lost, but our loss becomes your strength, and we're here for all those that are fighting. Go Ernie !
