Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - A gift.....

I had a touching moment this evening with my family and I wanted to share it with all of you. My nineteen year old daughter is home from college for the holidays and she announced tonight at dinner that instead of giving Christmas gifts this year to family and friends that she made a $200 donation to the Morris Animal Foundation in memory of Sunny! This may not seem like much, but it was a huge sacrifice for a starving college student. If each of us could have such a giving spirit and give from the heart, whatever they could, maybe someday we will have some answers and some cures. I am very proud right now.

Leslie,

On behalf of everyone at Morris Animal Foundation (Staff & Trustees, and those doing research) as well as myself and most importantly from all the dogs who will benefit from the studies your daughters gift will help to sponsor, a BIG THANK YOU to that wonderful daughter of yours.

This most kind geneorus gift on her part shows what a wonderful mom you have been to her and how you have instilled the important value of giving into her. Please give your daughter a big hug and thank you form me and let her know her most generous gift is appreciated more then words will ever know.

Leslie -- that is so touching. That is an incredibly generous gift from your daughter, and as one who also has lost a beloved dog to IMHA, it means more to me than words can ever say. It sounds like a really special Christmas at your home this year as you celebrate a holy time with your wonderful family and giving daughter. Merry Christmas

Thank you everyone! The life of our beloved Sunny is being celebrated and his tragic death is not in vain as research will be done to help find a cure for dogs in the future.
Merry Christmas! I am praying for the dogs and their families that are fighting this disease as we celebrate the holidays.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. My mom (Leslie) printed this out and showed it to me this morning, and I couldn't have been happier. Seeing this thread has truly been the best Christmas present I could have asked for. I hope my donation can help many doggies in the future. I know Sunny and his struggle will not soon be forgotten by our family and friends, and the least I could do was give something to remember him by and to help other dogs and their families not have to suffer in the future. I hope you all have happy holidays, and the best of luck to all of you. Give all of your dogs big hugs and kisses for me!
