Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - 2009 Meisha's Hope Award winner

If you want a bit of inspiration, please read about the 2009 Meisha's Hope Award winner. What a great vet as well as great owner/caregivers and a wonderful dog.

I hope to be able to post a photo of the Hamilton family with Casper and Dr. Baer after Dr. Baer receives his Award plaque.

All the nominations that were received for this Award were just so inspiring. I wish I could post them all online but time and space will not allow me to do so. It is so encouraging to know there are lots of good vets out there.

This nomination brought tears to my eyes. Dr. Baer sounds like a one-in-a-million vet, who was determined to do anything he could to help Casper and his family fight IMHA. I couldn't help but wonder if my dear Wiley's case would have been different if Dr. Baer had been treating her.

I was so encouraged too, to see so many nominations for outstanding vets. These nominations provide another indicator of progress in fighting IMHA, because we have a growing population of vets whose knowledgeable, caring treatment of dogs stricken by IMHA provides hope and develops trust with pet owners. I can hardly wait for next year's results.

I, like Brenda also was happy to read of all the nominations for great Vets. Hopefully that will mean more information shared between them so someday this disease will be easier to treat. Casper is so cute and deserves nothing but the best life has to offer. Congrats to all!
