Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - 2008 recipient of the Meisha's Hope Award is..

Since the forum is a bit quiet today I thought I would take this opportunity to mention the recipient of the 2008 Meisha’s Hope Award for Excellence in the treatment of Canine AIHA/IMHA. The 2008 winner of this Award is Dr. Richard Shackelford. You can read the letter nominating Dr. Shackelford and the story of dear little Maggie Mae at this URL:

In addition to Maggie Mae’s illness the family that sent in this nomination had another very difficult situation going on in their lives at the time Maggie was diagnosed with AIHA.

At the end of page mentioned above, you will find a link that will take you to a page telling you how you can nominate your vet for the 2009 Meisha’s Hope Award.

Hugs to all the canines from Maddie and me. Be assured that you all (both humans and canines) are in my thoughts and prayers each and every day.

Joanne, what a story -- both inspirational and heartbreaking at the same time. I hope Dr. Rick will set a precedence for other vets. I certainly can't say the same for mine, but hope his spirit and dedication are a role model for all.
